Module Description:
In this second module, you will explore common theories of learning and development and their related frameworks or models that are applied in primarily online settings. This module will also introduce you to basic human-centered design principles that can also inform the appropriate teaching strategies to enable you to meet the objectives in your chosen case study and that will best serve your learners.

Module learning objectives are subject to change based on programmatic updates.
- Identify the disciplines and some theories that support the learning science fields from a human-centered perspective that will inform the content and activities in your portfolio project.
- Create a teaching strategies plan that will best support learners’ needs and context based on cognitive, affective and skill-based learning objectives.
- Explain how strategies will contribute to motivating learners based on human-centered design principles.
Program Description:
The certificate in Instructional Design for Learning aims to develop individuals with skills and knowledge to step into the field as instructional designers. The non-credit micro-credentials are meant to serve as rigorous, skill-based, applied, five to six month offerings taught by practitioners in the field. Certificate students will develop workforce-ready instructional design skills through the development of a portfolio demonstrating their competency in instructional design.Timeline and Requirements:
The module will take place from November 13th - December 22nd, 2023. Work will primarily be asynchronous, with one live session per module with your facilitator and your cohort during the third Wednesday of the module from 7:00 - 8:30 pm.Fees & Policies:
Fees & Policies: Payment is due by credit card at registration. This module can only be taken as part of the Foundational Certificate: Instructional Design For Learning. Registration closes October 1st at 11:55pm. Refunds will be granted only up until registration closes.
